                                            Teaching Google Sketchup

I've been teaching Google Sketchup to grade 7-9 students for about 6 years, and I've tried a few different methods.  I find that an activity that is "whole-class and teacher-led" works best for me.  (Others might find it works better to have the official screen-cast video tutorials, especially with version 7 or 8.)

                                            Picture
I find that the tutorials for Google Sketchup v.5  (*saved below*) are best, and so I saved them here, just in case you don't have easy access to them.  I did not author them, nor do I own them, so all credit is due to the Google Sketchup team.

One small caveat: The "Display Settings" and such in Parts 2&3 change with the different versions of Sketchup, so I usually skip those steps.  They are at the end of the tutorials below, and so are very easy to skip.

Beware!   I recommend students skip the last parts

often changes the option locations and names.

                                            • Students must complete the 3 "For Students" tutorials  before moving on to the assignment below.
                                            • These handouts are designed to give lots of flexibility to a grade 7-9 student who has teacher guidance.
