Reminders for Grade 6 students doing photoshopping with The GIMP
  • GIMP – Photoshopping Challenges
    • Challenge #1 – Mr. Rich is an Alien
    • Challenge #2 – Celebrity is an Alien (not all classes did this)
    • Challenge #3 – Photoshop water,fire,concrete,star/sun (not all classes did this)
    • Challenge #4 – Celebrity / Animal Hybrid
    • Challenge #5 – Celebrity Detouching

      • Include fake story titles (make them up!)
      • Bonus: Include a photo of you

    • REMINDERS:  As we did last class, students should go on the Internet and copy a photo.  (Choose any celebrity.)  Right-click and choose “Copy Image”
    • Open GIMP and choose:
      • FILE --> CREATE --> From Clipboard
        This will insert the photo into GIMP as a new file
      • Use the CLONE tool (stamp) to copy (CTRL-click) and paste (click-and-drag)
      • If you PASTE an image, but it's a FLOATING layer, then click the GREEN button to make it a proper layer so you can SCALE it (using the small box with an arrow to the big box) to make it bigger or smaller, or use the ERASER.
      • If the ERASER isn't working, then in the LAYERS window, right-click on the image and choose "Add Alpha Channel".
