Passion: 
  • Vibrant teacher: I love teaching/training people to use software (both local and web-based).
  • Quality content: My curriculum aims to achieve the highest levels of form, function and grammar. 
  • Software development: The joy of accomplishment, the thrill of seeing clients who can grow their business more than ever before!  (Ruby on Rails, CSS, JavaScript, HTML, Python, PHP, MySQL, ...)

Skills:
  • Interpersonal yet unassuming: Expressive and encouraging, I will help you feel comfortable while you gain skills and grow in confidence.
  • Thorough yet not overwhelming: I develop straightforward quality curriculum that assumes you know nothing, but enables everyone to achieve awesome results!
  • Flexible and knowledgeable, I learn new systems quickly and am "tool agnostic".  (I'm happy using Windows, Mac or Linux, and whatever programming language the situation requires.)

Languages & Tools:
  • Building modules in Rails (published on GitHub)
  • Have programmed in PHP and Python (and a small bit in Perl and C years ago).
  • Built a custom photo album module for PHP-Nuke content management system (PHP, MySQL).
  • Have worked in Eclipse but still prefer a good text editor like Vi, gVim, or Notepad++.

Currently Working On:
  • I.T. Strategy for teachers and students in Anglophone schools in New Brunswick

Intangibles: 
  • Team-focus: I enjoy succeeding, but enabling your success makes me even happier.
  • Creative brainstormer: Stuck on something but want more?  I'm the out-of-the-box idea generator who helps the whole team dream up awesome solutions that empower everyone!

  • Office Suites - Microsoft Office, OpenOffice.org (and now LibreOffice) - especially Excel/Calc and PPT/Impress.

  • Graphics - Photoshop, Gimp (raster/pixel-based), Inkscape (vector-based)
  • Robotics - VEX, Lego NXT, custom robots using airplane controllers
  • Animation - Flash, Swish, Blender3D
  • Programming - Scratch (for younger students), Python (for older students)
