I can't help it. I have all these great ideas (at least *I* think they are great) and I want to see the change happen. Not that there aren't lots of good things out there in the education world. But things could be better, and I just want to scream!!!
First, I'm a geek, and so here's what I would do if I ruled the Education Universe's Technology Department.
1) Let's have 2 of everything! Why not? Let's promote choice and comparison in our students, rather than just brainwashing them that there is only one way to do things? After all, when was the last time that students did a word processing activity that didn't involve Microsoft Word? Why not encourage Google Docs *and* OpenOffice.org and even some other options! Where did this idea come from? Well, truthfully, I read about it with one Australian group back in 2003. Teach the students to compare, and let them decide if/where to spend their own money.
2. Try new things! (more later)
3. Use real world examples! (more later)
